This was an amazing show all around. We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to open for Lacuna Coil, Tapping the Vein and Daylight Dies. This was a national tour coming through our area and we were very excited about opening for these bands. The number of times that we have the opportunity to open for national acts is few and far between and there were at least 500 people at the show. Not only was this a great show in terms of crowd size, but I honestly think that as musicians this was one of our tightest shows that we have ever played.
We debuted a new song tonight - that we are calling "New New Song" because we consistently don't name our songs until they have been around for a while. I was talking with a long time BRAVE supporter named Jim at the club telling him about our lacking song titles and he actually remembered that the working title for the song "I Believe" was called wah wah (for the wah wah pedal in the song). Anyway - the debut of this song went over extremely well. The dissonant intro and outro of this song received loud cheers and we were all relieved that the crowd enjoyed the new material!
We played our 35-minute set and I went back to our merchandise table and was pleasantly surprised (well, no, actually I was ecstatic) to find a line of people wanting to buy our CD's. We sold 38 CD's that night and gained lots of new fans! Shortly thereafter, club owner Jay Nedry came up to me, kissed me on the cheek, gave me a hug and said "Great job sweetie - you guys brought people out early and left them all wanting more. I know I didn't promise any cash for this show - but here is $150 and you all have a free chicken and pasta dinner waiting for you in the kitchen." Very nice of him indeed…..what a great night!!
